Surface Preparation
Repair major pavement defects before applying AsPen. Fill pavement cracks with the appropriate SealMaster hot-applied or cold-applied crack filler. The pavement surface must be free of dust, dirt, debris and standing water before application.
Mixing Procedures
For optimum results, mix AsPen to a uniform consistency using the recommended mix design. Based on 100 gallons of Aspen for ease of calculation.

Application
AsPen is designed for single-coat spray application only and may be applied using standard bituminous distributors or other sealcoating spray equipment.
Apply AsPen at the recommended coverage rate so the material penetrates the pores of the asphalt while maintaining the existing pavement profile and porosity.
Important:
AsPen should NOT be applied to smooth pavement. AsPen relies on the existing roughness, porosity and profile of the pavement to maintain proper vehicle traction. Apply only to pavement with sufficient porosity and surface profile.
For proper application:
- Apply in one spray coat only
- Do not apply by squeegee
- Do not overapply
- Do not exceed the recommended coverage rate
- Maintain the existing pavement porosity and profile during application
Temperatures must be above 50°F during application and remain so for at least 24 hours afterward. Do not apply when rain is imminent or forecast.
Coverage
When properly mixed and applied, one gallon of AsPen will cover approximately 75-115 sq. ft. per coat or 8.33-12.77 sq. yd. per coat.
NOTE: Coverage rates may vary depending on the pavement age, porosity and application method.
